We woke up early this morning to be up north of the Cities at 8:15. The race today was run by grades, though 6/7/8 were combined. The race schedule stayed on time so even if the previous race wasn’t quite over the next one would start. Boys ran before girls. Cs race was the 8th out of 10. She placed 11th, just out of T-shirt contention (they were giving race t-shirts to the top 10 runnners of each grade). She improved her 2-mile time from last week though – it was 13:50.7. So she knocked off 7 seconds from her time trial. She gave it all she had and didn’t have enough left to sprint the last part, which she typically does. We stayed for the awards ceremony and they didn’t give them based on score, but rather overall team time. Cs girl’s team (with her as part of it) had the best overall team. It is the first time since the inception of this team that the girls have won it. That was pretty exciting. It was a great day outside. It had rained last night and partway through the drive, but by the time the races began it was dry. Such a great day. Glad Pa could join us for it.
